SO I LOVE POPCORN!
So last week a bought a bag of corn kernels and I’ve pretty much been making popcorn every night on my stove just using a pot. It tastes soooo much better and healthier than microwave popcorn, is waaaay cheaper and you can prepare it any way that you wish. Here is a recipe for popcorn in a pot!
Perfect Popcorn Recipe
Ingredients
- Enough oil to cover the bottom of the pot (Canola oil tastes delicious, but olive oil is healthier)
- popcorn kernels
- Covered Pot (Use a lid that lets out steam or the popcorn will be chewy)
- Any seasonings or butter to taste (salt, pepper, butter, Spanish smoked paprika, cayenne powder, curry powder, cumin, grated Parmesan cheese)
Method
1 Pour oil in the pot enough to cover it’s bottom. Put one kernal in. Cover and set on medium high heat.
2 When the kernel pops, add the rest of the popcorn kernels in an even layer of one kernel deep.
3 Once the popping starts , gently shake the pan by moving it back and forth over the burner. Try to keep the lid slightly ajar to let the steam from the popcorn release (the popcorn will be drier and crisper). Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat, remove the lid, and dump the popcorn immediately into a wide bowl.
